Indosat and RIM Introduce the BlackBerry Bold Smartphone in Indonesia

JAKARTA, Indonesia – Indosat and Research In Motion (RIM) today introduced the new BlackBerry® Bold™ smartphone in Indonesia. The BlackBerry Bold is the first BlackBerry® smartphone to support HSDPA networks and features a powerful 624 MHz processor, integrated GPS and Wi-Fi®, a newly designed QWERTY keyboard, high quality display and rich multimedia capabilities, providing business professionals and power users with unparalleled performance and functionality.

“We are pleased to offer the BlackBerry Bold smartphone to users in Indonesia. Indosat customers can now look forward to doing more and doing it faster, as they browse the Internet, check their emails, edit Office documents, listen to music, watch movies and connect with friends and family over Indosat’s high-speed HSDPA network,” said Guntur S. Siboro, Marketing Director of PT. Indosat, tbk.

The BlackBerry Bold smartphone is crafted from premium materials and features a lustrous black exterior with satin chrome finished frame and stylish leatherette backplate. It features a brilliant half-VGA LCD display (480 x 320 resolution at 217 ppi) that delivers stunning definition and clarity. It also comes with an advanced media player that can display pictures and slideshows quickly, play movies smoothly in full screen mode and manage an entire music collection. Audio can be played over the handset’s dual speakers in rich, stereo sound, and when using headphones or external speakers, the media player gives the user an equalizer with 11 preset filters – like "Lounge", "Jazz" and "Hip Hop" – that boost or soften audio ranges to create the perfect ambiance. The BlackBerry Bold smartphone also comes with a microSD/SDHC expansion memory slot for additional storage*.

We are pleased to be working with Indosat to bring the BlackBerry Bold smartphone to Indonesia, providing Indosat customers with a superior mobile experience that leverages the renowned advantages of the award winning BlackBerry solution,” said Adele Beachley, Regional Director, Asia Pacific, Research In Motion.
